HARI OM- Acrylic Painting

Here I tried to make a very rare combination of OM and holy flute of Lord Krishna.
OM or AUM is of paramount in Hinduism. Although OM symbolizes the most profound concept of Hindu belief, it is in use daily. The Hindu begin their day or any work or a journey by uttering OM. The sacred symbol is often found at the head of letters, at the beginning of examination papers and so on. Many Hindus wear the sign of OM as a pendant , as an expression of spiritual perfection. This symbol is enshrined in every Hindu temple. It is interesting to note that a newly born child is ushered into the world with this holy sign. After birth , the child is ritually cleansed and the sacred syllable OM is written  on its tongue with honey. Thus right at the time of birth the syllable OM is initiated into the life of a Hindu and ever remains with him as the symbol of piety. OM  is also a popular symbol used in contemporary body art and tattoos
Flute is the oldest musical instrument known to mankind. Everyone is attracted towards the melodious sound of flute, which is Lord Krishna’s favourite instrument. Among all Hindu Gods ,Lord
Krishna is called as “Natkhat”( naughty) since he played pranks during his childhood with his friends Gwaalas and also  with his  God-Mother Yashoda and later in youth, he played pranks with Gopikas, of course at times he showed his various LEELAS. It is said that sometimes he talked to his dearest spiritual companion Radha through the Flute Tune which Radha only understood  perfectly. Krishna advised his devotees to become his flute . He said that in the human personality structure ,as in the flute, there are 8 main spots: The five organs of perception, mind, intellect and ego. If you get rid of your ego and become like a hollow reed flute, then the Lord will come to you, pick you up , put his lips and breathe through you and out of the hollowness of your heart, the captivating melody will emerge for all creation to enjoy.

Lady with Diya...Acrylic Painting

This is my second painting of the series 'Women'.In this painting I tried to show Indian  beauty of ancient time. The lady is in a Royal attire wearing jewelry & feather crown. These ornaments increase her beauty.
I used very bright colors to give it a royal look and titled it "Lady with Diya".I made the background of the painting with sponges only ,see my post,in which I told you how I  use the sponges in my painting. This is made on canvas with acrylic. It is 18" by 24" in size.
